A Music Academic's Blog. Ethnomusicology, South African Choral music, Anthropology, Gender, identity, technology, academia, travel, and general notes as I progress with my graduate studies and research projects.
I would seldom blog something not work-related here, but something about this blogger's writing, and this post in particular, touched me, and I couldn't let the moment pass.
I stopped by because South Africa is of interest to me and I wanted to see how you are. I recently saw Johnny Clegg in Chicago and was listening to him as well. Who knows. But I saw this post.
Thank you. It was my heart on that page that touched you.
I'm too early for the sky. But I hope to be there one day. Then I will be whole again.
Wht did you think of Johnny Clegg, Liz? I'd be interested to hear your impressions. I am quite a fan of his, and am studying anthropology (though it's only a minor for me, and it was his major) through the same department he did, and he has presented a couple of siminars here. He's a fabulously empathetic researcher, and easy to listen to. And in Chicago... That is so exciting. I'm hoping to study in Chicago next year.
Don't ever stop writing, Liz. You have a real talent. I will be checking back often to read your work.
